CNC Router UpDate

January 26, 2015 by Larry 5 Comments

Little late with CNC Router Build update or should that be “A LOT LATE” ??? Lots of family activities kept me busy,  but the CNC build progressed along nicely through it all, just a little slower than planned. Though still not finished, the  cutting is coming along quite nicely.

Well that brings us pretty much up to date. I still need to clean up the wiring, install e-stop and maybe beef up Z-axis a little more; but all and all it’s a good little machine. My wife says I’m using the wrong adjective… GREAT little machine is more accurate, according to her.

Well done Larry! This would be a great post to the brand new Showcase section of OpenBuilds. If you find the time I think that everyone would love to see the awesome projects you are making on your machine.

So……Larry……how did those little pieces that you did on the 3D printer work out on the “X” axis? Everyone has been talking about the movement between the two 20X60 extrusions. I’ve been looking for something to stiffen that up for when I get to build mine. Out of the country right now but will return in mid May……..then I’ll get started on my own OX.

    Thank you,
    Randy

    Hi
I must say it’s quite impressive to see the result of this machine. So far, what cnc bit are you using ?
And is there any upgrade that could help the machine for … the precision, better tool cutter or so..?

    Thanks

That was some time ago, but I believe the bit was “CMT 858.001.11 60 degree Laser Point Bit, 1/4-Inch Shank, 1/2-Inch Diameter, Carbide-Tipped” I pick up on Amazon. As for precision, the little machine works quite well but anything to make it more solid. Would improve it, or speed of cut anyway.
